Negative taken for November 12, 1958, Arkansas Gazette article "Paper Mill's New Lake Is Boon to Sportsmen," B1:2. When International Paper Company needed more water for its Springhill, Louisiana plant, the company built the Percy Cobb Dam on Bodcaw Creek in Lafayette County, Arkansas. The resulting reservoir was named Lake Erling, after Erling Riis of Mobile, Alabama. Riis was a vice president of I.P., and general manager of its Southern Kraft Division. Formal dedication ceremonies for the lake were held November 11, 1958, at a public park created by the company. International Paper's kraft mill at Springhill, Webster Parish, Louisiana, is located a few miles from the Arkansas-Louisiana border.
